Privacy policy

Hoptroop Technologies ("Hoptroop") builds AI products for online merchants. This policy sets out how we handle personal data across hoptroop.com and the apps we operate under the Hoptroop name. Each app also has its own policy with the detail specific to it: for Merzo, see getmerzo.com/privacy. Where the two differ, the app's policy governs that app.

What we collect

• Through our apps: account details of the merchants and staff who use them, and data from the merchant's store and connected channels. The app's own policy lists exactly what.
• App analytics, in two layers: merchants get an analytics dashboard inside the app, available only to that merchant after signing in. Separately, we run platform analytics on Metabase to monitor performance and error logs; it does not use personal data.
• Through our websites: hoptroop.com and app sites such as getmerzo.com ask before setting any cookie that is not strictly necessary, and set none unless you accept. If you accept, they use Google Analytics to measure visits, which sets cookies (_ga and _ga_) and collects data such as pages viewed and device and browser details. One cookie is set when you make your choice, to remember it (hoptroop_consent here and merzo_consent on getmerzo.com, six months). You can change your choice at any time with Cookie settings in the footer, which also removes the cookies you declined. We also hold what you send us, such as your name, email address and message when you write to us, or the email and store address you enter to join a waitlist.

How we use it

To provide, secure and improve our apps and websites, and to reply to people who contact us. We do not sell personal data.

Sharing

Only with service providers that run our products for us (such as hosting, database, AI model, analytics, and email and SMS delivery), with channels a merchant chooses to send through, and where the law requires it.

Retention and deletion

We keep data while it is needed to provide the app or respond to you, or as the law requires. See how to request deletion.

Your rights

Anyone whose data we hold can ask to see it, correct it, or have it deleted.
